Ripan $ekhon Blog

It's easy to build a blog, but hard to build a successful blog with significant traffic. Over the years, we've grown the Moz blog to nearly a million visits each month and helped lots of other blogs, too. I launched a personal blog late last year and was amazed to see how quickly it gained thousands of visits to each post. There's an art to increasing a blog's traffic, and given that we seem to have stumbled on some of that knowledge, I felt it compulsory to give back by sharing what we've observed. NOTE: This post replaces a popular one I wrote on the same topic in 2007. This post is intended to be useful to all forms of bloggers - independent folks, those seeking to monetize, and marketing professionals working an in-house blog from tiny startups to huge companies. Not all of the tactics will work for everyone, but at least some of these should be applicable and useful. #1 - Target Your Content to an Audience Likely to Share When strategizing about who you...

1 Identify what speed you are supposed to be provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) . This is important, because your slow connection could be due to a problem on their end, not yours. This should be on your bill. If you don't have a bill handy, you can check the ISP's website or contact them directly to find out. 2 Conduct a   speed test   online . This should get you results close to what your ISP is supposed to provide. If you get a low result, try another computer on your network first. If both get a low result, contact your ISP. If only yours has a problem, the problem lies with the computer. 3 Eliminate needless programs . Your Internet connection requires memory to be able to be at the speed your are paying for. If your computer is bogged down by programs you don't need, your connection will go slower. Close programs you aren't using. 4 Do a virus and spyware scan . Viruses and spyware also use up memory which can contribute to a connection appe...

10. All the Boys Love Mandy Lane If you’re not in love with Amber Heard yet, watch   Drive Angry, Zombieland or better yet,   All the Boys Love Mandy Lane . The film draws on the actresses insane sex appeal, and it’s sort of like if they made   There’s Something About Mary   a horror movie, as beauty can inspire boys to do crazy things. It’s a fairly straightforward slasher film, but with a few clever twists thrown in, it stands out over similar films. 9. The Ruins The Ruins   is an interesting horror film that tries to be different than most other entries. It’s far from a perfect effort, but at least it’s trying, and it deserves a fair amount of points for that. A group of hot young people (who else) go exploring to find some ancient Mayan ruins, but what they find is a curse that manifests itself in a way you probably wouldn’t expect. It’s definitely one of the goofier entries on this list, but it’s worth it to at least figure out who the bad guy is. After th...

Upcoming iPad 3 The iPad was a sure game-changer when it came out a couple of years ago. Then it just got a lot better when the iPad 2 got released during the first half of 2011. So how will they improve on this tried and tested device/concept with its third iteration? Add to that the fact that we lost Steve Jobs late in 2011, will there be chances that the iPad will go on a different route under a different direction? Well, everyone’s hoping for a quad-core processor to power this thing, making it the next best mobile gaming device. Again, another wishful thinking for the Apple fans?
